Broadband SPICE

Cadence Sigrity Broadband SPICE accurately and quickly converts passive N-port model parameters such as dissipation, impedance, or admittance (S, Z, or Y) to equivalent SPICE models that can be used in time domain simulations to reduce simulation problems and speed up the runtime of transient simulations. You can load data from Touchstone files as well as the more compact Cadence Broadband Network Parameter (BNP) format.

Key Advantages

  • fast and easy model creation from N-port passive parameters for HSPICE and SPICE simulators
  • reduces simulation problems and speeds up runtime of transient simulations
  • works with Touchstone or Sigrity BNP files.

Sigrity Broadband SPICE gives you a passive, compact circuit model while maintaining the accuracy for efficient transient simulation in HSPICE or other SPICE-compatible circuit simulators, including the Sigrity SPEED2000 time domain simulator. The resulting compact models produced by Broadband SPICE provide excellent convergence.

Distinctive features

  • creates models for DC using broadband frequencies
  • extracts network models with multiple resonance points
  • models a wide range of structures including chip packages, RF components, printed circuit boards, cables and connectors
  • evaluates real structures such as parallel traces traversing a split plane, helical inductors and return path discontinuities
  • generates a very high order, but numerically stable, model for complex s-parameters
  • allows analysis of PI/SI issues such as “what-if” power circuit optimization and simultaneous simulation of switching outputs
  • strict enforcement of passivity enforced by automated methods along with interactive viewing and user control
  • automatic determination of the topology and order of circuits depending on the complexity of the s-parameter model
  • flexible support for flows where the target solver may differ and where some models are provided to others simulation tools
